Aladdin

John Birchley

A traditional pantomime about a boy who finds a lamp, an uncle he never knew he had and love . .

Our hero Aladdin has many money-making ideas but his day job is with his mother, dotty dame Widow Twankey and cheeky brother Wishee Washee in the family laundry business.  A chance meeting with the beautiful Princess Jasmine brings love but even though the doddery Emperor is looking for someone to marry his daughter things like that do not happen to boys like Aladdin.  A meeting with the evil magician Abanazar (can he really be the boy’s long lost uncle?) promises untold wealth for just a few minutes work, is this the way to the love of his life?

Along the way we meet the magical Spirit of the Ring, a grumpy Genie and the two remaining police officers in Peking (austerity has hit hard) and have problems with a flying carpet.
